Meet Division Chief of EMS Operations Doug Dickens
Chief Doug Dickens is a fire and emergency services professional with 34 years of experience. In 1989, he began as a firefighter and EMT in the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) of Augusta, Georgia before serving in the U.S. Air Force where he was deployed to the United Arab of Emirates (UAE) for Operation Southern Watch, earning multiple commendations. After his military service, Doug returned to firefighting in the CSRA of Augusta and later joined the Douglas County Fire/EMS Department in 2005. Rising through the ranks, he is now dedicated to strengthening leadership and improving the department and community. A strong advocate for lifelong learning, Doug actively pursues higher education and professional development opportunities. He encourages others to advance their education while remaining committed to his own growth through leadership courses, conferences, and academic pursuits. Doug holds an Associate of Science in General Studies with emphasis on Business Management. He is also pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Fire Administration. Doug and his wife Shannon have been married for 10 years and have three wonderful children.
