Meet Division Chief of Training and Community Risk Reduction Tevin Sims

Tevin C. Sims serves as the Division Chief of Training and Community Risk Reduction for Douglas County Fire/EMS, bringing over 14 years of progressive experience in fire suppression, emergency medical services, and training leadership. He oversees department-wide training, credentialing, and community risk reduction initiatives, with a focus on enhancing operational readiness, firefighter safety, and organizational performance. Chief Sims is recognized for developing high-performance training programs and fostering a culture of accountability, mentorship, and continuous improvement. He holds an Associate of Science in Fire Science and is completing a Bachelor of Science in Fire Administration at Columbia Southern University. His credentials include Fire Officer I–IV, Fire Instructor I & II, Live Fire Instructor-In-Charge, and multiple advanced technical rescue certifications. He is also a graduate of the Axioms of Leadership, Truckman’s Academy, and the North Carolina Breathing Equipment School, and remains actively engaged as an adjunct instructor supporting fire service education and development.
